A tool of beauty

My addiction deepens: I’ve purchased my first hand-made garden tool. It’s a crevice weeder, which would be ideal for the nasties that burrow their way into the flagstone path out front, but the weeder is so beautiful that . . . I may never actually use it. Just frame and display it.

My treasure comes from Red and Bob Denman of Red Pig Garden Tools in Boring, Oregon: “We make garden tools the old fashioned way — by hand. We use steel, fire, an anvil and good, honest sweat. These hand crafted tools are stronger, sharper, and will last longer than any others you can buy.”

Now I’m coveting Red Pig’s broadfork . . .
